Week #4 vs.Winnetka (New Trier)3-1
9/16/2005

New Trier Wins Defensive game

After Glenbrook North' surprising playoff run last year, many expected big things from them this year. However, so far in this early season Glenbrook North hasn't lived up to it's expectations. Last week Glenbrook North got shut out by Maine South and tonight Glenbrook North got beatin by New Trier 19-9.

The first half was a defensive battle as the game was scoreless at the half.

Glenbrook North started out the second half on an impressive 54 yard drive capped off by a Chris Chang 22 yard field goal to put Glenbrook North up 3-0. The big play of the drive was a 18 yard run by Glenbrook North running back Phil Blue. But after that New Trier took over.

In the next possession, New Trier scored on an 11 yard touchdown run by junior running back Richard Spellman (5'10" 215lb). That gave New Trier the lead 6-3.

Then after a Glenbrook North 3 and out, Spellman scored again. This time on a 1 yard touchdown run with 9:51 to go into the game to put New Trier up 12-3. New Trier's final score came on an 18 yard Touchdown pass from quarterback Patch Duda (6'3" 190") to receiver Ryan Dolan with 6:26 remaining in the game. Glenbrook North's lone touchdown came on a 4 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Will Evans to receiver Mike Crown.

New Trier (2-1) is beginning to show they are a force as they begin Central Suburban League South competition in a rivalry game next week versus Evanston. As for Glenbrook North, they will have to change their momentum, if they have any hope of matching last years' playoff qualifing team.
