Coalers Pick Off Victory

Coal City - Quarter back Justin Blaine ran in a 15 yard TD to put the Coalers up 14-7 with 36 seconds left in the 3rd.

That play was set up by a Central Catholic fumble that was recovered at by Coal City around midfield. The score would would be all they would need as they went on to win 14-7.

The game was all but wrapped up for the Coalers, who seen the Saints come marching down field 3 times in the 4th quarter. Twice the Saints would go for it on 4th down only to throw an incomplete pass while in the redzone.

Coal City trying to maintain possession of the ball with 1:31 left in the game went for it on 4th & 1 at the 41 of Bloomington, only to be stopped.

The Saints worked the ball down field to the Coaler 32 before Bernie Naiden would pick off a 2 & 10 pass at the 11 yard line with 29 seconds left in the game. Giving Coal City back the ball & a trip to the semi-final round.
