Week #9 vs.Barrington(7-2)
Broncos Stampede Cougars, Run ClockHoffman Estates (Feutz Field) - Conant and Barrington came into Friday night's game both with a record of 6-2, but with the Broncos hitting on all cylinders looking more like a 8-0 team and the Cougars more like a team that was 1-7, this Mid-Suburban (West) showdown turned into a blowout. Barrington put up 42 points, tying their season high as they started a running clock against playoff bound Conant with 3:01 left in the third quarter. Conant, who had been winning behind their strong defense, had only given up more than 2 touchdowns, just once all season, in a 20-0 loss to Fremd. The Cougars looked very uncharacteristic as they ended up down 42-0 at the end of the third. Barrington didn't use any flashy plays or benefit from any special teams or defensive touchdowns, just slow and steady drives powered by Teddy Schell (QB 6'5 205 sr.) and Andre Anderson (RB 5'8 185 sr.). The Broncos scored on their first 2 possessions and limited the Cougars to just 2 first downs in the first half. as they jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead. Anderson had 4 rushing TDs on the day, but the first two Barrington scores came on an 6 yard run by Schell and a 56 yard reception by Dain Hall (WR 5'10 175 sr.). Hall set the school record for most receptions in a game as he hauled in 10 passes for just under 200 yards. Adam Stoczynski (RB 6' 185 sr.) put the Cougars on the board with just under 4 minutes left to play on a 10 yard run, stopping the Broncos from getting a shut out. by Vincent Johnson Help keep your school's fans up to date.
