Porters/Christensen Open Flood Gates

Bolingbrook - Jake Christensen connected seven times for touchdowns in a 48-28 victory against Bolingbrook, helping Lockport wash away any chances of a Raiders victory Friday night

The Lockport Township team made a short trip across the waterway that helped give the school it's mascot name, for a non-confernce game against it's neighbor Bolingbrook. While the real locks stayed shut Friday night, anyone who attended the game may have thought Lockport opened up both of the gates to flush out all the Raider fans.

While the new Bolingbrook Stadium may have been overflowing at the start of the game, the home stands were almost bare at the onset of the 4th quarter as the 2003 8A State Champs followed their quarterback's arm into the endzone seven times to crash the party for the Brooks first ever game at their new field.

While Bolingbrook would keep things close during the first half, matching up nicely with the Porters, their speedy receivers & defensive backs, plus quarterback Javon Stewart (5'7 160 jr.), they fell behind almost as quickly as they looked like they might pull ahead.

Lockport would be the first to get on the board. Doing everything right during it's first drive. As Christensen found Zach Lammers on the very first play from scrimmage for a 40 plus yard reception, to put them close to the red zone.

Christensen looked like a man on a mission as he took the ball himself on a 4th & 1 play at the 14 to keep Lockport's scoring chances alive on it's first drive. Which would lead to a Chris Keyser touchdown as the back found his way into the endzone on a 10 yard reception.

While the Raiders would come marching right back, showing their speed as Kevin Lepitre burned everyone and would almost take the kickoff back 90 something yards, if it wasn't for his big toe stepping out at the 44 of Bolingbrook.

Lepitre would find the endzone soon afterwards though, on what should have been a Dominique Collins touchdown. As a possible sign of things to come, Collins would have the Raiders' first fumble of the night, but would wind up celebrating as Lepitre recovered it in the endzone for a score.

The Raiders missed PAT would put them as close as they would come to Lockport for the rest of the night though. While at times through the first half the outstanding athleticism of Bolingbrook helped slow down the Porter attack and make Christensen look off balance, breakdowns on defense, compiled with some key fumbles & penalties on offense cost Bolingbrook a victory.

Bolingbrook head coach John Ivlow, may have summed up his teams loss best "With this game as close as it was, we committed some terrible, terrible mistake."

Asked if the Christensen's performance or the teams fumble & penalty woes in the game were the difference between the team being 0-2 as opposed to 1-1 he stated "It was again us". He was quick to add that although he's had to admit that two weeks in a row "I'm proud of this team & we are going to be a good football team...you've got to play these teams to go & play the 3rd & 4th weekend in the playoffs" refering to last weeks opponentPark Ridge (Maine South).

Rich Bonko, George Kadlec & Jay Bradarich all had two receiving TDs a piece for Lockport. While Lepitre would have Bolingbrook's only scores while the starters for both teams where still on the field.
