Bulldogs Sink Argonauts

Summit (Argo Memorial Stadium) - Argo had surprised many people who follow the SICA (Orange), by already surpassing their win total from last season by week #4. Unfortunately they weren't able to surprise the #11th ranked Oak Lawn (Richards) Bulldogs & teammates Ricky Rodriguez & Jason Orozco Friday night.

In what was looking to be a classic SICA bruise game, turned into a blow out right from the very first drive. Orozco, moved the ball 45 yards on a rush to the 1 yard line on Richards second play after the kickoff. One play later he would punch it up the middle for a touchdown, with 11:10 still remaining in the first. It would be his first of 2 touchdowns in the quarter.

Rodriguez would have his first & second touchdown of the game in the first also. The first on a spectacular run after catching a Chris Humbles pass for a total of 58 yards and the second, a 6 yard rush, a few plays after he had picked off a Joe Klocham pass at midfield.

Orozco & Rodriguez, would end up with 3 TDs total. Sophomore QB Sean Lewis, showed some promise for future Bulldog teams as the 6'6" 190 lbs 10th grader would connect with Rodriguez, Matt Mayher & Donte Ellis for three TD passes of 43, 2, & 29 yards. Of course starting QB Humbles would not be outdone, so on top of the two passing TDs he threw, he also recorded a sack on defense.

Junior Nicholas Sykes was the standout defensive star on a crew that would only allow one TD off of a late Argo drive. Which ended in a Klocham TD pass for 12 yards.

The Argonauts played a good game with few mistakes, but seemed to be over come by the Bulldogs quickness. Richards head coach Gary Korhonen, said he "was scared" about the Argo team coming into this game. Korhonen added, "They've got three guys on that team that have bigger arms than anybody on our team has thighs".
