Dukes Start With D

Oak Park (O.P.-R.F. Stadium) - D is for Dukes and it's also what York has used to go 7-1 so far this season, after holding the Huskies to a total of just 66 yards on offense, the Dukes claimed their second conference title in two years and their first out right conference championship since 1997.

With big interceptions coming from Jordan Cirone (LB 5'11 225 sr.) and Alex Strand (DB 5'11 160 sr.), the Dukes held O.P.R.F. to 66 yards of total offense for the game. York's Scott Skuteris (DB 5'11 190 sr.) & Mark Gronek (LB 5'11 175 sr) were also key on the defense as they had several plays in the Huskies backfield.

Strand returned his for a touch down with 4:28 left in the game, but Cirone's might have been the bigger play, as his pick came as the Huskies' started to put together a drive midway through the third quarter.

York's Mike McNulty (RB 6' 165) lead all rushers with 112 yards on 19 carries and 1 TD. Running backs Mike Pukala & Cory DeRosa also added a rushing touch down a piece, while Devin Kolstad connected on a 32 yard field goal contributing to York's 31 points.

Oak Park's regular starting quarterback Justin Brown, played on defense because of a shoulder injury, while junior Clarke Cuthbert (QB 6'2 175) started in Brown's place. Cuthbert went 5 of 12 for 51 yards with 2 interceptions.
