Sandburg Survives Late Scare

Chicago (Lane Stadium) - The Eagles Held off Lane Tech's Indians (8-2) as they rallied and drove to Sandburg's 12 yard line with just over a minute left.

Rick Kozak was 8 for 13 with 95 yards, 1TD & 1 INT. Joe Wassong added 75 yards on the ground as several players had receptions.

On the defensive side the Eagles held Lane's bull dozing running back Gideon Akande was held to 67 yards on 22 carries. He did have 2 rushing TDs of 1 yard each. Chris Schulte had one of two team interceptions off of Lane QB Ross McClane as the defense held him to 99 yards passing.

The Indians put together two drives for the endzone within the last 4 minutes of the game. The first would be thawted by a Sandburg interception and the second a set of downs that would end with a 4th & 7 at the 12 and a McClane pass sailing infront of his intended reciever.

The Eagles advandanced to the second round of the IHSA 6A playoff to face Zion Benton.
