Week #3 vs. Melrose
Park (Walther Lutheran)
Knights Armour Dented Melrose Park (Fran Fanelli Jr. Stadium)- The high scoring offenses of Walther Lutheran and Chicago Christian were looking a little sluggish early on in this Saturday afternoon matchup, even with the Pinball Wizard running style of Tony Staton, and the smash mouth running of Robert Voss, the half-time score was 14-3. Christian struck first after rumbling down field they were stopped short of the endzone on several plays inside the redzone before settling for a field goal, little did they know they'd be settling for their point total for the game. On Walther's next drive QB Clarence Flowers, would pull out all the stops on a 22 yard run for a score. Flowers who was getting serious pressure in his own backfield on the play. He scrambled and stif-armed 3 different knights on his way to the endzone. That TD would be all the Broncos would need to win the game. Stanton, who would rack up over 330 yards would score 4 TD's three of which came in in the fourth quarter. One of those coming off of a 62 yard run, but none of his TD run were nearly as impressive as some of the short runs (short for him) he had in the 2nd. Where looking much like a pinball, he bounced spun and crawled out from under a pile still on his feet. Christian was looking to form a comeback, but suffered a serious setback as Voss left the game after taking a hard hit in the mid-third. Vincent Johnson
