Bio: Born in Lincoln, NE. Doug was a graduate of the now closed (1984) Arlington H.S. In 1985 he founded the Doug Betters Winter Classic to help children in need of medical care. While snow skiing Doug suffering a spinal cord injury in 1998, a fund has been set up to help him cover any medical expenses he may have. The Doug Betters Fund. |
Pro Career: Dough played all 10 NFL seasons with the Dolphins (1978-87), after being drafted in the 6th round in 1978 out of the University of Nevada-Reno. He finished with 43.5 career sacks. Played on both of Miami's 2nd place Super Bowl teams in '83 & '85. Was the AP's NFL defensive player of the year in 1983 where he recorded 16 sacks. Also, made the Pro Bowl in '83 & '84. |
