Bio: Gossett was also draft by the New York Mets in 1979 where he played minor league baseball for 2 seasons. Was also coached by fellow Illinois high school grad & NFL head coach Mike Shanahna. |
Pro Career: One of the top punters in the NFL in the 1980's. Averaged 44.2 yards a punt in 1991, earning him a spot on the Pro Bowl roster. Gossett has played in both the NFL & defunct USFl. He had stints with the Cowboys, Cheifs, Chargers, Browns & Houston Oilers. Finished the last 9 of his 16 year career as an Oakland/L.A. Raider when he was released in 1997. |
