Bio: Consensus All-American and three-time All-Big Ten selection at Iowa. Had 10,461 career passing yards. Is Iowas all-time leading passer and the first player in the Big 10 to pass for more than 10,000 yards. Recorded a Big Ten record 74 touchdown passes. Guided the Hawkeyes to the 1985 Big Ten title and the Rose Bowl. Won the 1985 Maxwell Trophy awarded to the nations top player and the Davey OBrien Award, which is given to the nations top quarterback. Runner-up for the 1985 Heisman Trophy. He was edged out by Auburns Bo Jackson in the closest vote in history. |
Pro Career: Played eight seasons in the NFL for the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams. He finished his professional career with 3,747 yards and 19 touchdowns. Currently the offensive coordinator & quarterback coach at Oklahoma. |
