Catholic Metropolitan (White)

All Catholic Metro Conferences will be receiving an overhaul for the 2002 & 2003 season. In a decision made in 2000 to realign based on enrollment numbers of the time.

Ever since Chicago (Weber) closed it's doors a few years back, the CMC needed to realign in order to meet the IHSA requirements of at least 6 teams per division in order for the division or conference champ to have an automatic placement in to the IHSA playoffs.

The CMC disbanded the Green Division because of the closing of Weber and went to the current division setup of Red, White & Blue. The divisions were set up based loosely on size and strength of the teams. Blue being the toughest followed by White then Red.

The new setup for 2002 will be purely based on enrollment numbers, Blue & White being the largest and Red rounding off with the small schools. Although with 6A State ChampNew Lenox (Providence)& 5A State ChampJoliet (Catholic)both being in the CMC Red, no teams in any division looks to have a easy ride to a conference championship.

Another change to the CMC as of the 2001 season was the withdrawal of Chicago (St. Francis de Sales) .

Also keep a look out as for a possible addition to the CMC as Chicago (St. Ignatius) starts up a football program which should have a varsity team in 2004.

Here is how the realignment will looks starting in 2002.
