Corn Belt

2001 Corn Belt Champs

Fairbury- The Indians of Pontiac won the Corn Belt conference title and clinched a playoff spot for the 2001 IHSA playoffs with a 54-12 victory over Fairbury (Prairie Central) Friday night in Fairbury.

The Indians still have one game remaining, but since the second best record in the Corn Belt belongs to the Saints ofBloomington (Central Catholic)(6-1, 4-1), who the Indians beat in week five. Pontiac can cliam the championship in the case of a matching confernce record (if they loss to next week to Stanford (Olympia) (3-4, 0-4)) by virtue of head to head record.
