TAYLORVILLE - Sacred Heart-Griffin quarterback Eric Peterman rushed for 252 yards, 214 of which was in the first half, scoring 4 TDs on just 8 carries in the Cyclones' 47-14 romp over Taylorville.
The senior play caller also completed 4 of 6 passes for 139 yards and 2 TDs. Peterman, who has verbally committed to play football at Northwestern, dazzled the crowd with several spectacular runs, including an 85-yard scamper into the end zone.
The Cyclone offense continued its efficient output Friday evening, scoring 40 points on just 10 plays from scrimmage. RB Curtis Robinson had 77 yards on 11 carries and 1 reception for 44 yards and a TD. WR Tony Nevins hauled in 3 catches for 95 yards and a TD, including a sensational one-handed touchdown grab in the first quarter.
The SHG defense tallied 3 interceptions on the night, including one returned for a touchdown by FS Brandon Crouch.
The Cyclones, ranked #24 nationally by The Sporting News, will take on Springfield High next Saturday.
