Week #4 vs. Deerfield 4-0
9/17/2005

Evanston's Michael Bolden tries to shake a Deerfield defender, as the Wildkits upset bid fell short Saturday afternoon.

Wildkits Come Up Short on Upset

Evanston (Memorial Stadium) - Alex Loukas (QB 6'4 205 sr.) rush for a touchdown & passed for another in Deerfield's 20-16 non-conference win over Evanston Saturday afternoon.

Running back Nick Anderson (6' 185 jr.), scored the first touchdown of the game to put the Warriors ahead 7-0 just under two minutes into the game. Anderson also was making big contributions on kick returns and on defense as well.

The Wildkits looked like they might get the upset, as they took a 16-13 lead with 8:15 left in the game, on a Sean Little (QB 6'1 190 sr.) 5 yard scramble and had been limiting Deerfield's star QB Loukas from making any big plays since the first half.

With 4:41 to go though, Loukas connected with Michael Weisberg (WR 5'10 180 jr.) for a 10 yard TD, capping off a 9 play 70 yard drive for Deerfield.

Evanston's chances looked very dim as the would fumble the ball with 3:28 left during their next possession and Deerfield's Greg Hoppe (LB 5'10 185 jr.) would recover it.

Evanston's offense would see the ball again as Kendall Farlow (LB 6'1 175 jr.) & Charles Cannon (DL 6'1 200 sr.) would get back to back sacks on Loukas, forcing Deerfield to punt at 4th & 26. With a delay of game penalty against Deerfield making that a 4th & 31, Evanston's chances were looking pretty good as they got the ball back around midfield.

Little tries to lead his team as best he could, coming up big with a 19 yard run to give the Wildkits another first down, but on 4th & 2 with :49 seconds left Deerfield's defense would stop Evanston's running back Michael Bolden (6'1 165 jr.) as he tried to run around the side to get the first.
