Raiders D Almost Gets Shutout

Danville - Halftime saw the Raiders go into the locker room up 14 to 0. While the Raiders defense bent against the spread offense of Danville, it did not break until the last 3 minutes of the game, when the Vikings scored on a 30 yard pass.

Leading Bloomington was the rushing of tailbacks Adrian Arrington and David Simmons, FB's Chris Jamison, Eric Tapley and QB Jake Callahan. With the strength of running displayed by Simmons, Jamison & Tapley, the speed of Arrington, and the elusiveness of Callahan, the Raiders were hard to stop.

The Raiders were successful all night running to the outside, but up the middle and off-tackle was not as consistent. The Raiders offensive line struggled through the night against Danville's quickness. Bloomington's receiving corp also struggled, as they dropped open passes on 5 different occasions.

The Raiders also had two scoring plays nullified, a 20 yard pass from Callahan to Donald Brown and a 40 yard run by Arrington, due to holding penalties. First game jitters for the O-Line and receiving corp are typical with first games, but the Raiders worked through them as a team, and once again start the Big 12 season with a win.
