Week #2 vs. McHenry (1-1)
9/5/2003

Scooter McIntosh of McHenry can't quite haul in a pass that would have set up a third overtime.

Cats Get Tip to Force Overtime

Libertyville - In a game that featured two top North Suburban conference's players going at it on two sides of the ball, a 31 yard tipped Chris Jansen pass would touch two hands (Santino Panico then John Haas) before it would lead to a Libertyville touchdown with 17 seconds left, to bring about two overtimes.

Libertyville head coach Randy Kuceyeski said "it was a hard fought fought game with an excellent football team".

He exknowledge that it could have went either way and credited the defense with being the advantage in the game. "They came up big in the second half, especially with our special teams having a melt down."

McHenry's Scooter McIntosh's 79 yards on 12 carries (33 of which came on one of those melt downs) didn't make him the game leader or even team leader in rushing. Although the 6'2 203 lbs senior seemed to be in on almost every play and pulled out some amazing moves throughout the game.

McIntosh's 33 yard run on a fake punt inside their own 20 , an interception and two crucial TD receptions, one in the fourth & one in the first overtime would help keep the Warriors in the game.

Unfortunatelyfor the Warriors, on 4th & 6th in the 2nd overtime, a diving McIntosh would come up short, as a Lucas Slater pass would slide off his finger tips in the corner of the endzone. A third overtime may have happen had he caught that pass, or had the Warriors not jumped offsides to make their 4th & 1 a 4th & 6.

Panico would finish the day with 117 yards, 3 TDs on 10 carries for Libertyville. His counter part Kevin Fontana (5'11 190 lbs sr.) would also bust out with 117 yards, 2 TDs on 21 carries. His second TD, a 2 yard plunge up the middle on 2nd & 2 would be the game winner.

McHenry's Jansen would have a big day as well, throwing 10/21 with 154 & 2 TDs. Junior running back Noel Figueroa (5'8 182 lbs) led the Warriors in rushing with 104 & 2 TDs.
