Trojans Run The Clock on PHHS

Elmwood High School - The Elmwood/Brimfield Trojans returned to their winning ways Friday against the Peoria Heights Patriots. The Trojans scored five times before halftime while allowing Peoria Heights their only score of the game during that time, making the score 35-6 at the intermission. The Trojans scored twice more in the third quarter to bring the final to 49-6, along with a running clock.

Offensively, the Trojans were hitting on all cylinders. Senior quarterback Dax Feuchter complete three of four passes for 129 yards and a touchdown (Ben Schmitt - 57 yards). Senior running back Nate McFadden carried just nine times, but gained 179 yards and crossed into the end zone three times. He also had one reception for 53 yards and a touchdown. Junior running back Cody Black carried seventeen times for 101 yards and two touchdowns. The Trojans ended with thirty-four rushes for 330 yards (five td's) and three pass completions (four attempts) for 129 yards (2 td) to total 459 yards on thirty-eight attempts.

The Patriots were limited offensively by a very stingy E/B defense. Junior fullback Anthony Bannon shouldered the load for Peoria Heights (10 carries, 44 yards), as he has all season. Senior quarterback Alex Goett was frustrated not only by the Trojans defense, but also by a number of dropped balls, completing just one of seven attempts for 10 yards. The Patriots gained 111 yards on the ground on thirty attempts.

Defensively, Elmwood/Brimfield came up big against Peoria Heights. Defensive end Ben Schmitt recovered a fumble on an attempted flanker screen and safety Nate McFadden got his fifth interception of the season. Overall, the Trojans limited Peoria Heights to 121 yards on thirty-seven attempts.

The 6-1 Trojans play at 5-2 Lewistown this week. The 2-5 Patriots play 0-7 Havana.
