2006 Fans of the week !

Hey, we know it takes more to make a football game than just 22 guys in pads and leather balls.

This page is for the fans & cheerleaders who go above and beyond the call of duty.

Are you a fan?

Post up your thought about the team you love on the IHSFW.com message board.

Week #13
Chicago (St. Rita)
Illinois high school football fans
Mustang fans filled Bishop Kafer Stadium at Providence to witness one of the most exciting playoff games of the 2006 season as St. Rita won 34-31 with 8 seconds left on a
Stephen Flaherty field goal.

Week #12
Oak Forest
Illinois high school football fans
The fans at Oak Forest didn't flood the stadium, creating standing room only around the field, but they did weather a flood of sorts. After spending almost 2 hours in the gym & a half an hour outside in the rain after a false fire alarm, the Bulldog faithful pack the home stands to watch Oak Forest win to make it to the school's first ever semifinals appearance.

Week #11
Dixon
Illinois high school football fans
This one goes out to not just the fans, but the city of Dixon as well. Dressing up storefronts & signs and even having parachuters drop onto the field to delivered the game ball. You can tell these folks were happy about being the host team for the first time in 5 playoff appearances.

Week #8
Oak Park (O.P.-River Forest)
Illinois high school football fans
OP-RF "Dog Pound" fans made some noise
as they came out for a big conference show down with York.

Week #4
Wheaton (North)
Illinois high school football fans
Falcons fans were out in numbers &
in team colors as they formed a sea of royal blue & gold.

Week #2
Wood River (East Alton-W.R.)

Yes, we're suckers for fans that paint their entire body for a game, even more so when their team wins, like EAWR did against Litchfield 28-20. But somebody please help the Johnny Knoxville look-a-like paint his armpits.

Week #1
Joliet (Catholic) /Palatine (H.S.)

The Joliet Catholic Hilltopper faithful made the trek to Chicago and showed up with a cheering section several rows deep. While they witnessed a thrilling game against the Caravan ofChicago (Mt. Carmel)the Hilltoppers couldn't hold on to an early lead and fell 13-6.
This group of Palatine or as they say P-Town, supports are some true blue fans, even if they are all red. The watched Palatine win on a 2 point conversion against Lake Forest High School.
