Total number of teams that have made the state finals with 4 losses.New Lenox (Providence)enters this week's semifinals with an 8-4 record as they take onChicago (St. Rita)(11-1), a team they lost to 17-14 earlier in the season.

With just 2 games left there are still four different conferences t
hat could have two state champions at the end of this season. Big Rivers (Morrison 2A & Manlius (Bureau Valley) 3A), Chicago Catholic (Blue) (New Lenox (Providence)&Chicago (St. Rita)in 7A &Chicago (Mt. Carmel)in 8A ), Suburban Catholic (Addison (Driscoll) 4A & Woodstock (Marian) 5A) & the Western Sun (Batavia & Geneva in 6A & Maple Park (Kaneland) in 5A. The Western Sun is in it's first season as a conference.

Current record of the defending 8A Champion Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East) Griffins, who's last loss came at the hands of 2004 8A State Champs Downers Grove (North) in the Semifinals in 2004.

The current record of the Addison (Driscoll) Highlanders over the last 6 years of the playoffs, including 2006. The Highlanders who have won an Illinois record 5 straight state titles in a row, will be looking for a record sixth straight appearance. The Highlanders are currently tied with the Celtics ofNew Lenox (Providence), with five straight appearances. Providence made the finals from 1994-98.
