Prospect players carry away their 3rd 7A trophy in 5 years, as they held on to beat football powerhouse Mt. Carmel of Chicago 20-14.

3 and Oh, Yes! Knight Undefeated in Big Game

Champaign (Memorial Stadium) - Looking at the final numbers at the end of the game, the Prospect Knights showed that in the end it's the score that really counts.

Mount Carmel caravan out rushed, out passed and out sacked Prospect's Matt Bowman 4 times, while holding him to 88 yards passing. In a game that didn't see any turnovers, the Caravan out preformed the Knights by 60 yards of total offense, but still walked away under performing in the most important category, scoring.

While the Mt. Carmel caught out to Prospect after being down 7-0 at the half, the Knight's Matt Bowman almost did it single handedly for the Knights as he rushed for 2 touchdown and threw for the third.

Bowman who finished with 124 yards on the ground, despite being sacked 4 times also passed for another 88 yards, as his two 6 yard TDs in the 4th quarter would be the difference maker that would make the Knights perfect in their 3rd State Final game in 5 years.

Mt. Carmel, is a team that could never be counted down, no matter how late in the game it might be, made things interesting for the Prospect fans, as Larry Dortch got almost half of his total rushing yards on a 25 yard TD run with a minute left in the game, to put the Caravan with in 7 points of winning, due to a blocked PAT by Mt. Carmel on Prospect's second TD.

While the Caravan's onside kick was recovered by the Knights, a fumble on the snap when Prospect was taking a knee almost gave the ball to Mt. Carmel. After a time out the Knights made a clean snap and walked off the field as the 7A State Champs.
