Week #4 vs. Fairfield BULLDOGS RIGHT SHIP AGAINST MULES The defense forced eight turnovers and five of them led to scores. In the first period with the mules driving on the Dogs five yard line they tried to score up the middle but linebacker Alex Puckett forced the ball out of Scott Miller's hands and returned it 101 yards for the longest fumble return in the schools history for a touchdown. Brandon Pringle scored on a one yard run in the second; Steven Smith on a three yard run in the first and Quarterback Kevin Wolff capped off the game with an eight yard run. Carmi rushed for 189 yards, 87 yards passing and 190 yards special team yards for a total of 456 yards. Fairfield was held to 109 total yards. The announced attendance was 1,022. The win broke the two-game losing streak for the Bulldogs. Now 2-2 and 1-0 in the NEC will host Flora (0-4) for Homecoming in week five. The game was forty-five minutes late in starting because a special program to honor America and those lost in the World Trade Center, Pentagon and hijacked airliners on September 11. Clergy from local churches took part a well as both bands. The crowd was given candles in paper cups that were lighted just before the playing of the National Anthem. It was very moving and everyone had tears in their eyes.
